RB Associates (RBA) and its related services, recognize and are committed to managing the privacy of user information. This privacy statement covers the policies covering the collection, storage and dissemination of personally identifiable information (Personal Information) and other user information.
Personal Information means any information that may be used to identify an individual. This may include, but is not limited to: first and last name, physical address (home and/or business), e-mail address.
In general, people may use RBA Web Sites and Services (collectively known hereinafter as RBA Web Sites) without revealing Personal Information. RBA does not collect Personal Information except where it is provided by you on a voluntary basis. In order to use RBA Web Sites, information is collected as follows.
Some RBA Web Sites offer free voluntary registration to users: e-MPInet. By registering, users can enter the site without having to log on each time; they gain access to personalizations (user defined content and functions). During the registration process, the user is required to supply a username (or nickname), and an e-mail address. This information is required to manage RBA Web Site password security. For e-MPInrt, once users have registered and logged-in they may record the following optional data: real name, fake e-mail address (displayed with comments), home page, signature line, biography, public key. Users may also choose to be included on a "headline mailing list", and "session login time".
Users may choose to "opt out" by not entering Personal Information. (a) Users may use RBA Web Sites without registering. (b) Users may view message-board web pages without posting comments. (c) Users may also choose to configure their browsers to block acceptance of cookies from RBA Web Sites. (d) Where technically feasible, users can indicate if they do not wish to be contacted by RBA or its on-line services regarding new Web Sites, changes or new on-line services.
By completing voluntary on-line registration (opt in), and enabling cookies, Users enable RBA Web Sites to provide the security necessary to gain access to additional RBA Web Site functionality.
A cookie is small text file sent by a web site to a user's browser. A user may choose to erase or block cookies. Most browsers allow the user to set permissions for cookies, including deletion. However, blocking or deleting cookies will eliminate some RBA Web Site features.
RBA Web Sites that offer message boards/forums for users to post messages and comments, offer voluntary identification of the user submitting the message. The user is asked to enter a "name" (can be left blank) and an e-mail or web site address (can be left blank) where the user can be reached. This information is posted with the message/comments to the RBA Web Site and is viewable by all RBA Web Site visitors.
When users visit RBA Web Sites and request web pages, our servers collect some user information including their IP addresses, and the web pages requested. RBA uses this information to administer RBA Web Sites and assist with users having problems using RBA Web Sites. We may also use this information to study RBA Web Site usage, and to make improvements to RBA Web Sites. RBA may also use this Web Site traffic analysis to build aggregate information about user interests in content and advertisers. RBA may share this composite information with our advertisers to help them understand our our RBA Web Sites. RBA does not share individual Personal Information and web site usage data with advertisers.
Some RBA Web Sites offer interactive polls that allow the user to vote on topics of interest. No tracking is done to correlate a users vote to Personal Information.
Where technically feasible, users can manage their Personal Information on-line. When this is not technically feasible, RBA will make reasonable efforts to assist users in updating their Personal Information.
Appropriate measures will be taken to protect the security and privacy of Personal Information collected from users. Access to Personal Information is limited to those employees who have a legitimate business need for that information. Personal Information will only be given to third parties when user consent is given. In exceptional circumstances disclosure of Personal Information may be required by law or if we receive legal process.
Users may disclose Personal Information in RBA Web Site message boards or chat areas, which may result in communications from third parties. These activities are beyond our control.
RBA retains user information as necessary for business purposes and as required by government regulation. Personal information shall be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of the specific purpose the information was collected. RBA will carefully dispose of records and delete information when retention periods expire.
Personal information collected on RBA Web Sites will not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required by law.
RBA will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information it collects is accurate, complete and up-to-date as is necessary for the purposes for which the information was obtained.
RBA provides users with the ability to view or correct or change the information collected during the registration process. This can be done in the "User Admin" section. Users may change this information at any time and as often as necessary. RBA may use an outside organization (Third Party Service) to administer, add functionality and content to RBA Web Sites on RBA's behalf. RBA may provide information, including Personal Information to Third Party Service providers necessary to help us deliver on-line information and services. RBA will take reasonable steps to ensure that Third Party Service providers are obligated to protect Personal Information on RBA's behalf.
RBA Web Sites are not intended for children under the age of thirteen. Children may only use RBA Web Sites only with the direct supervision of their parent.
RBA is not responsible for the content, or privacy policies of the web sites to which it may provide links, or the web sites of its advertisers.
Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while RBA strives to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the privacy of all communications and data exchanges. Accordingly, we are not responsible for any third parties intercepting and using the information that you provide to us.
By using our site, you agree that RBA, its affiliated companies, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any losses or damages or any nature whatsoever, including, without limitation, direct and indirect damages, consequential and incidental and any special damages.
